Job Description:

The Indoor Air Quality and Energy Team at the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Utah, is currently seeking outstanding Ph.D. students to conduct research in the area of Indoor air quality (IAQ). The work involves (1) IAQ data analysis and data science, (2) IAQ modeling and simulation, and (3) IAQ, ventilation, and energy use, among other related topics. This work is part of a large grant focused on the study and analysis of indoor air quality data. Students will work with low-cost air quality sensors and will also take on a modeling component, examining how outdoor pollution events influence indoor air quality and connecting this work to energy conservation constraints. Further data analysis will involve building AI-based tools and neural networks to help facility managers determine the best course of action for improving IAQ. This is an exciting project with strong opportunities for collaboration and networking.
