Department: Biological & Agricultural Engineering Department (BAEN) Job Title: Assistant Professor of Biological Engineering Job Rank: Assistant Professor, 9-month, full-time, tenure track 45% Research, 45% Teaching, 10% Service Job Description: The BAEN Department in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for a 9-month, full-time tenure-track faculty position in Biological Engineering The successful candidate will be expected to: 1) use a multi-disciplinary systems approach to develop a nationally recognized research program focusing on but not limited to the following areas: (a) application of engineering principles and tools to biological systems to optimize agricultural production, food safety, and environmental safety and sustainability, (b) analysis, sensing, computational/molecular modeling of microbial and organic materials including nano- and bioaerosols, and their effect on public health and product safety; (c) design of processes and technologies for food, bioprocess, and molecular engineering applications; 2) develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in engineering; 3) secure extramural funding from federal, state, industry and private sources; and 4) serve the Department, College and University. Required Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Food Engineering, or closely related engineering discipline. Successful candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, an ability to work both independently and in multi-disciplinary teams and a willingness to advise and mentor students. Applicants must be licensed or be eligible to obtain a license as a Professional Engineer at the time of appointment. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated potential to excel in conducting and publishing high impact research, developing an independent research program, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and successful grant writing. Motivation and skills to educate students through academic programs in engineering.
